My Background and Career

Suzanne Doyle-Morris, PhD is founder and CEO of FemaleBreadwinners.com which specialises in strategic career development and leadership coaching for high-potential executive women.  I am an expert on gender equality, diversity in the workplace and career progression for executive women. I received an MPhil and subsequent PhD in Educational Research from the University of Cambridge. My doctoral dissertation focused on the career experiences of women working in male-dominated fields.  I founded Doyle Morris Coaching & Development in 2005 – renamed FemaleBreadwinners in 2011 – to help organisations develop and retain their female talent.
As a native of Washington DC who has lived and worked in four countries, My niche expertise has an international perspective, relevant for today’s flat-world marketplace.  I am based in Scotland and have coached executive women within Accenture, Unilever, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Microsoft, Cisco, UBS, Barclays Wealth, Ernst and Young, Clifford Chance, University of Cambridge, Trinity College Dublin and St. Andrews University.  I am the author of both Beyond the Boys’ Club: Strategies for Achieving Career Success as a Woman Working in a Male Dominated Field and Female Breadwinners: How They Make Relationships Work and Why They are the Future of the Modern Workplace.  I am International Coach Federation accredited and a Fellow of the Professional Speakers Association.

My Experience

Female Breadwinners.com is for women who earn a significant if not majority amount of the household earnings.  And the Big Secret? This is actually a large group of women and growing all the time! More women than men are graduating university, women make up to 80% of all consumer decisions and companies now realise women in senior leadership positions bring better profitability and corporate governance as well as reflect their consumer base.
These changes will affect how professional women manage their careers, the dynamics of their personal relationships and how the workplace retains and develops this growing number of female talent. It is our job at Female Breadwinners to help both women and employers negotiate these fast-paced changes for everyone’s benefit.

Your advices to other women who want to start a business

Every day is about just doing a bit more, reaching out and getting help from others earlier than you think you can afford it. The work will come in to pay for their time, and you can't learn to delegate soon enough or build your business if you are doing all the delivery yourself.

I studied Women's Studies and Psychology at University. It leaves a strong impression and I came to Europe and started my company because I felt I owed it to all the women who went before me. They were women who fought for these choices to work and travel; to live life on their own terms - options that our foremothers would never have been able to have
