NAME: SALVAN Jocelyne
BACKGROUND: Self-made woman
My Background and Career
I am 59 years old and I was born in a small town of Tarn. I did high school, continuing education, and am mostly self-taught. I've been married for 39 years and am the mother of two children and have three grandchildren. Today I am a joint manager employee of several companies under insertion status SARL. I run 43 permanent full-time equivalent employees 332 non permanent and 65 people who have specific contracts.
Since 1983 I have worked in the social economy. I built, with the support of volunteers in a board, the first integration company in Midi-Pyrenees: Episode, which was in the building sector.
In 1995, I created a company with 3 colleagues of temporary employment "Oxygen". parallel to this, in order to promote the integration of women. We opened a business integration service in person "Cleaning Service".
I had responsibilities in the regional and national network integration companies and was President from 1991 to 1995 UnionsRégionale of this network.
All these creations and my business implications come from my desire to develop access to employment for people who are removed from opportunities. From 1989 to 2008, I got elected. I was a municipal councillor and mayor of my town, and vice president of my community together.
I also campaigned for many years on non violence
As a woman, it was difficult to be taken seriously by banks and professional organisations and colleagues. I had to prove my skills. It is hard to bear when it is I who manages and directs financial companies that always want new financial partners who contact my colleague. It is important to me that women are recognised fairly. I worked hard and I felt the frustration at not always be available for my family, or to take the trigger, because of my various commitments. Fortunately, on one hand, my husband and my children have always supported me, and secondly, I am someone who can do several things at the same time, who is very organised. On the other hand, my professional meetings in the various networks have allowed me to open my field of possibilities.
My tenacity and high spirit, my optimism. my organizational skills, my ability to learn new information, seek advice; my desire for independence and taste to undertake a purpose.
Ingrid Betancourt is a model because of her constant battle against corruption and I admire how she managed her way to reach the top in this so male-dominated society.
